Global Steel Demand Shows Signs of Recovery in 2026

The global steel industry is entering 2026 with cautious optimism as demand begins to recover following a challenging 2025. According to the OECD’s 2026 Steel Outlook, global steel demand is projected to increase by around 0.4% to approximately 1.8 billion metric tonnes in 2026. However, the recovery is expected to remain uneven across different regions and markets.

For the pipe, flange and fitting industry, this recovery is closely connected with infrastructure investment, energy projects, water treatment and industrial construction. Steel remains one of the most important materials for pipelines and mechanical connections because of its combination of strength, durability and versatility.

Carbon steel flanges and fittings continue to play an important role in industrial piping systems. Products manufactured according to standards such as ASME, EN, DIN, ASTM and GOST are widely used in oil and gas facilities, chemical plants, power stations, water infrastructure and general industrial applications.

At the same time, customers are becoming increasingly focused on material traceability, dimensional accuracy and quality documentation. Mill Test Certificates, inspection reports and compliance with international standards are becoming important factors when selecting suppliers, particularly for large infrastructure and energy projects.

The gradual recovery of steel demand therefore presents opportunities for manufacturers and exporters of pipes, flanges and fittings. Suppliers that can combine competitive pricing with stable quality, reliable delivery and complete technical documentation are likely to remain competitive in the global market.

For international buyers, the key trend is clear: procurement decisions are increasingly based not only on unit price, but also on long-term reliability, compliance and supply-chain stability.
